Purple flower haze

Here is my attempt at the Card Patterns sketch 102 challenge. 

I have enjoyed making this one as I know the lovely lady I work with is going to adore the colour scheme I chose.

This is the sketch they set:

A lovely simple sketch with a million possibilities

But this was how I envisioned it.

Sue loves all shades of purple, so I decided to limit the use of colour. The stamps are done in Momento Grape Jelly, then using a piece of cut & dry I frist highlighted the edges with Angel Pink. I followed this by dragging  the tips of the sections with Lulu Lavender.

I used a small scalloped circle cutter and pink/purple tissue paper to make the flower, which is fastened in the centre by a pearl brad.

In the top lefthand corner I placed two papermania glitter gems.

Valentine desire

Now that it is all over I can finally display the card I made my husband.
I was too worried he'd find this blog and spoil the surprise.

I've had this rose stamp for several years, but this is the first time I have tried glazing it after colouring with stardust pens. But I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

A new challenge and a bit of revenge

My sister in law hates cute and girly, so to kill two birds with one stone, I've created this card for the Truely Scrumptious challenge #50 and her birthday next week..... : )

I only hope this effort is worthy of the Truly Scrumptious challenge sketch.

I've used three lovely girly colours for the background, a peel-off I coloured pink using a sharpie pen, the reflective image was created using a rectangular make-up sponge. I topped it off with a multi-coloured paper flower and butterfly pee-off.

Foxy little number

I found the cable...woohoo
Although my son is 17 on sunday, he loves foxs, more to the point he loves cute foxs. I wanted to explain this before showing you the card because it looks more like something you would give to a 7 yr old.
But I know he will go all slushy when he sees this cute little guy

This sweet fox and other elements are from the Nitwits - In the woods kit. They have a wonderful array of digital kits.

 

I printed the fox 3 times so I could build him up, to give the card a more 3d feel.

• white A4 card

• 1mm foam squares, roller glue and glue pen
• Ultra fine glitter (sun rays)

Oh where, oh where

can that little cable have gone to this time!!!! I only used it yestarday to upload some photos.
Oh well, I'm sure it will turn up soon and when it does I shall have a cute new card to share with all of you.

I have to say a HUGE thank you to Nitwits, if it wasn't for their gorgeous digital scrapbooking kits I don't think I would have ever found the right fox for Anthony's birthday card.
And when I find that cable.......

Wishes for a friend

My fellow lab rat, who I work with Martin, finally received an invitation for an interview....woohoo.

Although he seemed excited for most of the day, his nerves started to show. So to try and reassure and encourage him, I made him this little card and wrote him a little verse

verse inside;

"when they meet you,

I'm sure they'll know,

that the other candidates,

have to go!"

I hope it makes him feel better. I'm sure they will give him the job!

A little note for my dear friend Debs (Debsgems), when Mawgan and I do find time to get up to see you I promise to bring the cute stamp set with me. Then we can have lots of stamping fun!

A self-inflicted challenge

Hello peeps,
I saw a lovely demo in town on saturday (not for long though, my 9yr old was fidgetting), Sue made a stepped card. Not knowing any of the dimensions, I have patiently sat with ruler, paper and pencil trying to work out how she created it. I cracked it and it only took me two and a half days ( must be getting slow in my old age...lol).
So here is my first proper attempt, I hope you find it interesting

 It's basically, two cuts and several folds.

The photos hasn't come out as well as I would have liked, but at least they give the basic idea.

 

I've had a few ideas for this shape card and when I have a some more free-time, I shall create and share them with you. I will also try to draw a sketch of how it is made for anyone who hasn't come across this style before.

Polka Doodle doo

As promised I've created a card using my new Polka Doodles stamps that arrived the other day. Not sure it meets the waltzing mouse challenge, but I need to make a couple more cards for some fellow work-mates who are also being made redundant at the end of march. (Ooh, lots of crafting time soon)

I used green pearescent card from my stash, papermania "Lemon Sorbet" gingham paer for the background, Doily Lace trim punch (martha stewart), nestabilities plain & scalloped ovals, Canteloupe momento ink pad and of course my ultimate favourite Pro-markers.

I used grey for the actual building as I felt the background of the card was colourful enough.

I truely adore these little fairytale houses this set contain.

Well, best dish-up the sunday dinner otherwise it may get ugly round here.

Missed the close date

After working hard to create a card that met the CR84FN13 challenge colour choice, I go and miss the closing date, so frustrating!!!
Ah well, here is what I managed to come up with:

I used brown script paper I had on my computer for the background, a dark red paper from my stash which I cut with nestabilities "deckled mega rectangle" and the edges aged using distress ink. Turquoise blue flower.

The sentiment tag I found on the canon scrapbook website, there is a large selection of downloadable images and even a few papercraft projects. This tag did not contain the words, these were a stamp I had lurking in the bottom of my stamps box, that I inked up with Momento dew drops "Bahama blue", which worked very well with the tag colours.

I'll be back in a bit with another card created with my new Polka Doodles stamp set.

Challenging times

Hello everyone, I am counting down the days to my final day at work, redundancy blessing or nightmare? Ah well, life goes on, I may even find more time for crafting. 

I've had a little difficulty with this one, Waltzingmouse sketch challenge #32, WMSC32

Stamp - Script rose (rose cut out)

Ivory pearlescent card stock

Sakura Stardust pens (dark red & dark green) smudged by finger to create subtle colouring

Martha Stewart punch around the page (deco fan)

Distress Ink (black soot) to highlight the punched pattern

These pieces were layered up, with the lowest leaf brought forward over the sentiment tag.
