Crafting, Cancer and Courses

It is always great when people can use their passion to help others. DoCraft joined forces with Marie Curie Cancer research in the "create-a-card-for-cancer" campaign, and thousands of crafters/cardmakers across britain took up the challenge. So far over 19000 cards have been recieved, these will then be distributed to Marie Curie shops around the country.

All donated cards must be recieved by the 30th April, 2008. So plenty of time to make more. Details from DoCraft website (see link) and all DoCraft stockists.

For now I'm afraid, it's back to the books. My next paper isn't going to write itself, more the pity. I hope I do better this year than last. But at least I passed last year.

I'm really missing my OU friends.

Viva terror

Thank god that's over.

It's wasn't any less stressful than an exam, but at least the uncomfortable silence of an exam room isn't there.

I hummed and clicked my way through it.

On a more positive note;
my 14 yr old was accepted to do the triple award science and health and social care for his options, so he's happy,
and my 6yr old will be starting her hockey lessons after half term.........bruises galore no doubt.

Now to survive another year of OU chemistry...............I must be mad.
Hope all my OU friends are studying hard.

Good ol' british weather

When is this blooming rain going to end?

The car park at the local shops is nicely flood (again) and the roads leading into Oakwood will soon be impassable.
Whichever engineer designed the road layout for Derby should be take out and drowned.

Roll on July!! 1 week of residetial school............good friends, good food, good laugh, and lots of chemistry.
Just a shame it's the final chemistry residential.

Joining the Open University has to be one of the best choices I ever made.
I've had great fun, even when the workload has been heavy.
My confidence in myself has slowly grown.
I've made some wonderful friends, whom I will hold in my heart always.
It's an experience I would recommend to everyone.

Oops about new year

I take it back............2008 isn't looking good so far

But hey, who said life was easy.
At least a dear friend sent me something to remind me lifes tough but there is always hope:

Donkey Logic
One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well.
The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him.

They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly.
Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well.

He was astonished at what he saw.
With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing.
He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt.
The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.
Each of our troubles is a steppingstone.
We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up!

Shake it off and take a step up.

Thank you M xx
I won't be forgetting this in the year ahead.
